Jabatan Kerja Raya Cameron Highlands
The Jabatan Kerja Raya Cameron Highlands is mainly involved in the maintenance and development of infrastructure projects around the district. It is a government department which is under the purview of the Jabatan Kerja Raya Negeri Pahang. The main role of this department includes overseeing all the infrastructure and building-related projects of Cameron Highlands and the surroundings. As such, it plays the role of the implementation and technical consultancy agency on behalf of the government of Malaysia. This means that in Cameron Highlands, services involving the likes of project management, maintenance and construction related projects are undertaken by this department. The Jurutera Daerah (District Engineer) is stationed at this office to oversee any infrastructure development and issues related to the government. Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara Cameron Highlands
The Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara Cameron Highlands or National Registration Department, District of Cameron Highlands is the government agency involved in providing registration services for the locals in this area. Like all other NRD branches across the country, it is the main government agency responsible for all types of registration for the people which will then be contributed to the national database of records. The common services provided at the JPN Cameron Highlands include application for new identification card (MyKad), registration for birth, marriage, death records, divorce and adoption of children. Besides that, foreigners applying or renewing their citizenship can be carried out at the department as well.
This office is under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs which manages the national registration records through the National Registration Department’s branches nationwide. The branches are mostly involved in issuing of identification documents to the applicants in which this office is the Cameron Highlands’ branch. This is not limited only for MyKad but includes MyKid, Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, Death Certificates and any other related documents. Majlis Daerah Cameron Highlands
The Majlis Daerah Cameron Highlands or Cameron Highlands District Council is the main authoritative body involved in the development of Cameron Highlands. Located in the town of Tanah Rata, this is the main government department which oversees the enforcement of laws, licensing of businesses and other activities and many other roles and responsibilities. This means that the MDCH has jurisdiction over most of the land area and the locals here in terms of taxation and other issues.
Besides that, MDCH is involved in initiatives and programmes to upgrade the standard of living among the people here, maintaining and upgrading of facilities, encourage physical development, maintaining and upgrading of health and general wellbeing, review and undertake rental rates of stalls and cultivate better cooperation and livelihood of the people in Cameron Highlands, among others. Meanwhile, the MDCH operates via several departments here that include planning, property management, building management and engineering, township and public health, treasury, landscaping, public communication, legal services, internal audit and is involved in the collection of fees for the golf course as well as in enforcement and administration, among others. Pejabat Agama Islam Daerah Cameron Highlands
The Pejabat Agama Daerah Cameron Highlands is located in the town of Tanah Rata which is the main administrative centre of Cameron Highlands. The centre is under the purview of the Jabatan Agama Islam Pahang which is mainly involved in educating the general public and Malaysians about the teachings of Islam based on the Quran and Sunnah philosophies which is in line with the national proceedings and understanding. The Pejabat Kemajuan Orang Asli Cameron Highlands is managed under the purview of the Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli Malaysia or the Department of Orang Asli Department. The Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Cameron Highlands is basically the Education department responsible for this sector for the Cameron Highlands region. The department’s office is located in Tanah Rata which is the main administrative town of the hill station.
