According to a spokesman of the police, rescue operations are currently going on and the road has been closed to traffic and to date, 22 passengers in the tour bus were killed at the scene while another 4 died at the Raja Permaisuri Hospital. The bus had hit a divider and overturned when travelling down from Cameron Highlands where 11 survivors are currently being treated.
This is the latest horrific bus accidents following a series of others including the Genting Sempah incident that took 7 lives in October where the driver was found to have no valid licence. 13 were killed in another accident earlier that month around the Simpang Ampat Toll Plaza while 10 lives were lost at the Ipoh Selatan toll plaza last December when the double-decker bus they were travelling in skidded and hit the road divider. We advice all tourists to take extra cautious with this stretch of road, especially during rainy days.
