BUKIT BINTANG – Two minutes walk from the hotel is Bukit Bintang, known as the ultimate shopping area in the city, with a wealth of options that would satisfy even the savviest shopper. Bukit Bintang has been likened to Piccadilly Circus in London and Times Square in New York City for its liveliness and colourful character. PETRONAS TWIN TOWER – The 88 storey Petronas Twin Towers is (located) approximately 5 to 10 minutes drive by car, and 3 minutes by monorail. This tallest twin towers in the world with the unique double-deck sky bridge stands at 170 metres with its arch support forming a symbolic gateway to the city centre. Suria KLCC is an attached shopping mall which consists of major international designer brands.
KUALA LUMPUR CONVENTION CENTRE – Approximately 5 minutes drive from the hotel is The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre located in the Kuala Lumpur City Centre, fondly known as KLCC. AQUARIA KLCC – Located in KLCC. adjacent to the PETRONAS Twin Towers. The aquarium oocupies 60,000 square feet in the Concourse level of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. A visit to the Aquaria KLCC will take you through a journey of discovery, education, as well as eco-tourism, supported by the latest technology with a mermerizing ambience.
PETROSAINS – The Petrosains Discovery Centre is a state-of-the-art interactive museum that is dedicated to the petroleum industry, especially in Malaysia. Located inside the Suria KLCC shopping mall, Petrosains has over 150 exhibits that educate visitors with dioramas, rides and replicas. Impromptu explanations and mini-tours are also provided by the staff.
KL TOWER – Menara Kuala Lumpur stands majestically at 421 meters and 94 meters above sea level at Bukit Nanas. It is considered a main feature of the city skyline and provides a panoramic view of KL city.
Menara Kuala Lumpur ranks fourth amongst the tallest telecommunications towers in the world. Constructed over a period of four years, the tower was completed in May 1996. Besides the panoramic view, Menara KL also has something for the city-dwellers and the nature enthusiast. The greens surrounding Menara KL is called Bukit Nanas Forest – the oldest gazetted forest reserve in the country.
LAKE GARDENS – The spectacular 200 acres Lake Gardens is 15 minutes drive away from the hotel. Nestled deep in the city center near Jalan Parlimen are the sprawling green lawns, rolling hills, blooming gardens and it also features Southeast Asia’s largest Bird Park, Butterfly Park, Deer Park, Orchid Farm and Science Centre.
NATIONAL MOSQUE – The National Mosque is located near the Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens. Opened in 1965, the mosque is elegantly designed with contemporary interpretations of traditional Islamic art and calligraphy. Its unique feature is the umbrella-like roof which is cast in a blue hue. Visitors are required to remove their shoes as well as dress appropriately before entering.
PETALING STREET/CHINA TOWN – A five minutes drive from the hotel brings you to Petaling Street which is also known as ‘Chee Cheong Kai’, which means ‘Strach Factory Street’, a homage to its roots as a tropiaca producing suburb. Today, it is Kuala Lumpur’s own Chinatown where you can find all things Chinese from herbs to dry goods and toys to clothes. The entire street is closed to traffic during afternoons as traders set up stalls to peddle various merchandise, food and electronics.
NATIONAL ART GALLERY – The National Art Gallery located along Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin was established in the former Majestic hotel, which itself is a historical building built in 1932. It houses a number of galleries that range from permanent exhibits to temporary ones. The permanent collection amounts to over 2,500 art pieces, featuring the work of local and international artists.
BATU CAVES – A 20 minutes drive from the hotel is Batu Caves, which is said to be around 400 million year old limestone caves. It is one of Malaysia’s most famous tourist destinations especially for the colourful Thaipusam festival. This attracts up 800,000 devotees and spectators; the highlight is seeing devotees in a trance carry kavadi, a metal france attached to the body.
