As we travel around Tanah Rata (the town is actually pretty small so you can explore it in a couple of hours), you will find the signboards directing you to Twin Pines & KRS Pines guesthouse along the main road of Tanah Rata town. Start to walk towards Jalan Mentigi and you will see the guesthouses in no time. It is not too far away from the main street therefore, vacationers can still walk to nearby restaurants and souvenir stalls. And my first impression of Twin Pines – this is a cosy little guesthouse catered to backpackers and budget travelers. As you look around the little garden and reception area, there were only foreigners sitting and reading their books or chatting with one another.
This guesthouse is popular among foreigners and not locals. Since this is a budget hostel, don’t expect those fancy amenities or facilities. From as low as RM7 per night, you’ll get a decent bed in dormitory style rooms and also hot showers in shared bathroom. Other amenities available are laundry services, Internet and clothes drying area. Well, after all you can’t expect too much for the amount you pay for! Meanwhile, KRS Pines is located slightly further ahead of Twin Pines guesthouse.
