The Embassy of Nepal in Malaysia functions as the mouthpiece for the Nepalese government in the country.
Offering all types of services for its people who are visiting Malaysia as well as those intending to visit Nepal, it is the official custodian of all bilateral ties between the 2 governments.
Forging better relations
The diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Nepal was established back in 1960. Based on amity, goodwill and understanding, the bilateral relationship started and continues to strengthen to present day.
Both the countries are members of the UN and the Non-aligned Movement where there is a strong collaboration and cooperation between the 2 governments and their people respectively.
To date, Malaysia remains as one of the major trading partners with strong investment, tourism and trade between them.
On this end, Nepal is regarded as a strong source for foreign workers for Malaysia. This started back in 2001 and is still one area that continues to grow.
Meanwhile, tourism is also a great source of revenue for both governments where there have been direct flights between Nepal and Malaysia’s capitals since 2003. Mr Udaya Raj Pandey is the current Nepal Ambassador in Malaysia.
Services offered by the Embassy of Nepal in Malaysia
As the government’s representative in Malaysia, the embassy serves the people of Nepal who are currently in the country either for work or leisure.
The embassy is open on working days. Those who are planning to visit Nepal could apply for a visa at the Embassy. This can be done between 9.30am and 1.00pm each day where they can submit their documents.
The visa will usually be ready by the next working day between 2.00pm and 4.30pm. Visitors can apply for either a 15, 30 or 90-day visa which has their respective payment and fees.
Passport Services
For Nepalese nationals, they can come to the Embassy of Nepal if they require any form of passport-related services like renewal or replacement for loss of passport. This is applicable for nationals who are:
- Currently working in Malaysia
- Students enrolled in Malaysia’s institutes of higher learning
- Tourists in Malaysia
