Before you embark on a journey around Cameron Highlands, it is important to find out information on accommodation, attractions and transportation to ensure you have a wonderful journey ahead. And prior to booking a hotel room, always check and search on the Internet for the recommended hotels. Here’s a quick guide on the availability of resort, hotels, apartments and lodges in the cool mountain.

As one of the major tourist destinations in the country, travellers can expect a wide range of accommodations available from budget hostels to luxury resorts. You can pick from the expensive luxury Tudor country homes or the modest hotels scattered around different towns – Brinchang, Tanah Rata and Kampung Raja. Families can expect well-furnished and fully equipped apartments with various facilities including a built-in kitchen. On the other hand, budget conscious travellers can pick cheaper accommodations without extra facilities. If you are traveling in groups, it is best to hunt for bungalows available at special rate. Regardless of where you choose to stay, you’ll be mesmerized with the wonderful rolling green hills and captivating farms around.

For travellers without transportation, the best option available is to book accommodations around Tanah Rata and Brinchang. This is due to the fact that these two towns are the biggest towns in Cameron. Hence, shops, restaurants and other facilities are within walking distance. On top of that, if you want to travel to attractions, you can simply hire a cab or take a bus at the terminal nearby. Meanwhile, for those who would like to stay in a quiet and less crowded town, the apartments and hotels between Brinchang and Tanah Rata is your choice. However, for travelers with vehicle, parking in Tanah Rata and Brinchang towns is a problem because the towns have limited parking spots. Unless you opt to stay in luxury and sophisticated hotels where they provide you parking facilities, those who park their cars illegally would face the risk of getting police summons. But generally, apartments in Brinchang are slightly more expensive (between RM180 and RM300) compared to other towns in Cameron due to demand, night entertainment, pasar malam, more shops, etc.

For budget conscious backpackers, you can stay in simpler and cheaper hotels in Tanah Rata and Brinchang. Generally, the rooms in these simpler hotels charge around RM100 per night. There are also hotels offering RM50-$70 per night but make sure you have checked the condition in those hotels before paying deposit.

If you are travelling to Cameron Highlands during peak season, it is best to book your accommodation before you travel to the destination. Rooms are usually fully booked during holidays and some hotels also increase their price. It is best to book at least a month prior to your vacation. Booking a five-star hotel is an easy task for all you have to do is to pick up the phone and call them for reservation. Provide your credit card details to allow them to confirm your reservation. And if you want to cancel the bookings, call them in advance because they’ll refund you (although the hotels may charge a specific amount for the cancellation fee).

For budget conscious travellers, you will need to pay in advance. Most of the budget hostels charge between RM60 and RM120 per night depending on the location and facilities offered. Group travelers can book through agents for apartments (usually range between RM200 and RM500 per night). Another option is to book bungalows where breakfast, lunch and dinner are available and included in the charges.
